Being in Riddim

Riddim is a community brought together by our shared love of dance. We connect by teaching and learning each other's unique dance styles and by coming together for fun events we host.

The RIDDIM Show:

All semester, RIDDIM works towards a final show. The first and last pieces of the show (intro and outro) are choreographed by the co-directors and include every RIDDIM member. The rest show is composed of pieces choreographed by members of RIDDIM.

Weekly Rehearsals:
Each piece practices once per week, with the exception of all-days. Each dancer can choose how many pieces they want to be in.

All-Days:
All-Days are three weekends during the semester in which intro & outro are taught, and each piece holds an hour-long rehearsal.

Tech Week:
Tech week is a RIDDIM-filled week in which lights, costumes, and sound are finalized before the show.

Audition for Us

Auditions are held once per semester, the Saturday and Sunday after the Activities Fair. Come prepared with a 30--60 second solo to perform in front of the board, and get ready for a super fun weekend!

Audition Itenerary

Auditions are held the Saturday and Sunday after the Student Activities Fair.

Day 1: The first day starts with an accessible warm-up, then jumps into the solo process then ends with teaching a short combo

Day 2: Callback day also starts with an accessible warm-up, a quick review of the combo from the day before and a performance of the combo in small groups.

What We Look For

We are seeking students who will enhance RIDDIM’s community through:

  • experience with international choreography

  • willingness to learn unfamiliar styles

  • passion for movement

Advice

We don’t bite!

Ask questions if you need help. This will demonstrate that you’re eager to learn. Try to view this as a dance workshop more than an audition. That will help you relax and have fun knowing that you’ll get something out of the experience regardless of the results.
